Climate change and Resiliency of the Filipinos

Climate change has been an issue around the world. Cutting down trees, disposing trashes in the wrong trash bins, using dynamites in fishing, burning fossil fuel, using vehicles that emits smoke etc. These are the cause of the climate change which has been one of the significant challenges faces in the world.

One of the predominant causes of environmental change in the Philippines is the country's exposure to tropical storms, which are becoming more frequent and severe due to rising sea surface temperatures, the predominant causes also includes deforestations that reduces the natural ability to absorb rainfalls

The Philippines, which is near Pacific Ring of Fire, frequently experiences natural disasters such as, typhoons, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Recently, our country have experienced 4 consecutive typhoons — Marce, Nika, Ofel and Pepito — within a month, which specifically hit and affected the northern Luzon.

Many people have been affected by the significant typhoons that hit the country, especially those who lives in vulnerable areas.

Various houses were destroyed due to the strong force of wind, rainfalls and storm surge. Many people also evacuated from their homes as it is too dangerous especially when they're in a flood prone area.

But, Filipinos are known for being resilient. Despite the destruction of their homes, they don't let the impact of the typhoon hinder them from recovering. They still manage stand up on their feet and put up a smile on their faces, because they believe that being optimistic is a way to recover from the impact of the typhoons. Helping each other is a way to a new environment and a way to a better future.
