The theme "Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalana." (Valuing, Nurturing and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous knowledge.) Every month of October, the Philippines celebrates the Indigenous People Month, recognizing their rich and unique traditions and cultures across the nation. the 2024 marks a significant milestone with the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA), a law that protects the rights of the indigenous people
By valuing and protecting this knowledge, we not only help preserve their culture but also encourage sustainable practices that can benefit the whole country. It’s a reminder that the wisdom of Indigenous people can teach us important lessons about living in harmony with the environment.
